As a state public policy office of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), Lutheran Advocacy – Minnesota (LA-MN) addresses biblical values such as concern for people living in poverty and struggling with hunger and disease, hospitality to strangers, and care for creation.
The purpose of LA-MN is to advocate for justice in the areas of hunger, poverty, and care of God’s creation by speaking with and for those who have little or no political power. LA-MN will work with congregations, ELCA Lutherans, and others to create and use networks for advocacy on these issues.
Our ministry is mandated, guided, and governed by the ELCA. Lutherans believe advocacy is a public witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ where the Church speaks with and on behalf of others in need.
Lutheran Advocacy – MN is a state public policy office of the ELCA and is a partner ministry of the six ELCA Minnesota Synods representing nearly 1,200 congregations throughout the state of Minnesota.
